MEET THE DESIGNER
Born and raised in the North West of England, Becky graduated from a Printed Textiles degree in Manchester and went on to amass a varied resume within the fashion industry. Gaining experience in both menswear and womenswear, Becky worked her way up from Design Assistant to Senior Print designer. creating commercial textile designs for a number of European retailers and suppliers in the UK, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. She has worked on accounts including: M&S, New Look, Tally Weijl, C&A Europe, Tu at Sainsburys, F+F at Tesco, George at ASDA and Littlewoods.
In 2017 Becky decided to leave the fast fashion industry after becoming increasingly frustrated with its lack of ethics. She moved back to the UK from Switzerland to become Creative Director of Textile Candy.
Since then the brand has gone from strength to strength both online and offline. The physical shop has expanded into a larger retail space allowing for a designated workshop/training room. Funding has been secured from Lancaster City Council and UnLtd to refurbish and equip a makers space and a partnership with The Growing Club in Lancaster has led to the development and delivery of the Crafty Women business startup course.
Collaboration is key to the Textile Candy brand ethos and Becky designs all product ranges alongside local seamstresses and artisans. Drawing on her 7+ years experience in the design industry she oversees the manufacturing process and ensures all hand crafted items are of a consistently high quality.
When not in the studio designing new items for the ever expanding TC product range, Becky can be found working as a Wallcovering/Textile Designer in Stockport or renovating shop fronts for local landlords in Morecambe.
